Lymington III 158 all out
Lymington 3rd XI began their Hampshire Cricket League County 4 West matches away at Winton CC played at the King George V Playing Fields. Winton invited Lymington to bat and despite losing an early wicket positive progress was then made by Terry Crabb (43) and Mark Gannaway (12) to get the innings underway; however, Lymington then lost wickets at regular intervals with only a well struck 56 from the promising Asa Drodge and a cameo 14no from veteran Peter Tapper contributing to 158 all out. After the tea break, Winton smashed the ball to all parts of the ground in a T20 style approach with B Baguley scoring a rapid 62 before being well caught by George Hayward off the bowling of Adie Hunt 1-41. Two inspired bowling changes then saw the match turn around with Damian Jayasinghe 4-30 and George Hayward 2-16. Winton slumped to 119 -7 but with plenty of overs in hand sensible batting enabled Winton to reach 161-7, winning by 3 wickets. Despite the defeat there were many encouraging signs for Lymington 3rd XI to build upon for the season ahead.
