Success for Lymington Ladies at the W10 Festival!

Lymington Ladies Purple Cobras win HCB W10 Festival

Last Sunday at Lymington  Sports Ground the Lymington ladies Purple Cobras softball team hosted the W10 Ladies Festival against Hythe & Dibden, Emsworth and Gosport Borough Ladies teams. The Hampshire Cricket Board “W10 Softball Cricket Festival” is organised by HCB’s  Mike Pollard and Emma Cowdrill. The format is 10 overs with a softball, plastic bats and stumps and a 30 yard boundary with 10 players in each team. Players must not have played hard ball cricket and must be over 13 years of age.

There were two pitches made out on the Sports Ground and on Pitch 1 Lymington Ladies Purple Cobra first match was against Hythe & Dibden Ladies coached by ex Lymington Colts coach Syd Shirazi and Lymington won. The second match was against Gosport Borough Ladies which Lymington Purple Cobras Ladies won and in the final match against Emsworth Ladies they also won so winning all 3 matches and finishing top of the table.

Final placings:
1st  Lymington Ladies Purple Cobras
2nd Gosport Borough Ladies
3rd  Hythe & Dibden Ladies
4th Emsworth Ladies

The first two teams qualify for the Hampshire Finals on Sunday 16th July at Portsmouth CC and the second two play in the Plate Finals on Sunday 9th July at Hythe & Dibden CC

The Lymington side is managed by Marilyn Freedman and coached by New Milton’s Charlotte Taylor of  Hampshire Vipers and the team consisted of Sonia Carswell (capt), Sarah Keeton, Sally Tollerfield, Gemma Ashall, Lynn Barnes, Liza Walbanke, Bernie Clayton-Smith, Karen Dickie, Anoushka Freedman, Jane Reggio and Evelyn Loveless with Mary Jenks (injured).
