On a cloudy warmish day the first all day format match of the Premier division, Lymington captain Simon Beetham lost the toss and were asked to bat. Lymington openers Dominic Hand (30) and Lewis McManus (4) started cautiously with the latter being caught behind with the score on 20. Richie Lock (45) took the score to 70 before Hand was caught and leading run scorer Ed Ellis (25) was caught bringing in Cameron Grierson (0) who was trapped in front. At 123 for 5 were in some trouble but Tom Atkins (10) and Simon Beetham (27) led a recovery until Ollie Calcott (1), Matt Metcalfe (1) and Neil Trestrail (1) were dismissed cheaply the latter to a stunning one handed catch at mid-on. Lymington were dismissed for 161 all out in 54.1 with Ed Freeman (0 not out).

In reply St Cross struggled against the Lymington opening attack of Matt Metcalfe (21 overs 5 for 46) and Ed Freeman (4 overs 1 for 23) and were soon 16 for 2 then Simon Beetham (5.3 overs 1 for 18) and Dominic Hand (7 overs 1 for 21) took wickets and at 100 for 6 St Cross had the upper hand but strike bowler Matt Metcalfe finished off the tail and a couple of run outs resulted in St Cross being all out for 120 in 41.3 overs.

Next week’s fixture on Saturday 11th June is at home at the Sports Ground against the Hampshire Academy starting at 11.30am. On Sunday there is Southern League T20/20 away against Langley Manor CC starting at 4pm.
