Bournemouth v Lymington – Royal London Cup Round 2

Bournemouth CC 143 all out in 39.4 overs
Lymington 143 for 2 in 34 overs

Lymington won by 8 wickets

On a lovely hot day at the Chapelgate Sports Field in Bournemouth the home team won the toss and elected to bat. Bournemouth had a few 1st XI players missing as so did Lymington who had only 5 players from the side that played Bashley the day before in the Southern League Premier Division.

The Lymington opening bowling attack of Ed Freeman (7 overs 3 for 11) and Ollie Calcott (9 overs 3 for 46) soon had Bournemouth in trouble and 37 for 6 an early finish was envisaged. However Robert Pack (60) and Matt Jones (33) put on 102 and Chris Blake (9 overs 0 for 27) and captain Simon Beetham (6 overs 0 for 23) kept up the pressure along with Adie Hunt (6.4 overs 0 for 27). The introduction of Dominic Hand (2 overs 3 for 3) wiped out the tail and Bournemouth finished on 142 all out in 39.4 overs.

In reply the Lymington openers Cameron Grierson (40) and Dominic Hand (1) were soon parted when the latter was caught but Ollie Calcott (50 not out) repaired the damage and the next wicket fell at 101. Simon Beetham (29 not out) steered Lymington home in the 33rd over winning by 8 wickets moving into the 3rd Round .

Players that helped Lymington to field with 11 players were Stuart Hand (Dominic’s father) plus 3rd team players Mark Gannaway, Josh Bowring, Adie Hunt and Simon’s brother Adam Beetham.

The next round is on Sunday 29th May away to South Wilts then the winners are away to Ventnor or Havant on Sunday 19th June in the 4th round.
