Lymington CC U13a’s started their league season with a 60 run victory over New Milton at Fernhill on 7/5/15.
Lymington won the toss and elected to bat but were immediately on the back foot as Harry Dyer Smith took a sharp caught and bowled to remove Sam Stockton [1]. Josh Royan and Thomas Sykes steadied the ship with a 50 run partnership. Both retired on 30 not out. Hugo Smith [18] and Ben Donnison [15] kept the momentum going allowing Lymington to reach a total of 119 for 6 off their 18 overs. Tom Miller, Nick Nurse, Liam Macurdy and Henry Marriage all impressed for New Milton with the ball.
Lymington’s opening bowlers, James Williams [2 wickets for 7 runs] and Harvey Jefferies [2 for 7] came out of the blocks fast reducing New Milton to 13/4 after 4 overs. Further wickets for Josh Royan [1/2], Thomas Sykes [1/4] Hugo Smith [1/2], Sam Usher [1/9] and Ethan Perry West [1/14], and a run out brought the New Milton innings to an end for a total of 59 runs in the 17th over. All 10 Lymington bowlers were economical. A promising start to the season.
