Lymington 120 all out
Lymington 3rd XI played away at Mottisfont 1st XI and on winning the toss invited the home team to bat. On a slow wicket the Lymington attack of Josh Bowring, Jimmy Lillington, Damian Jayasinghe and Hugo Chandler combined well to limit the score at the drinks break to 66 for 1. However, R Blake was playing fluently and accelerated the scoring rate particularly against the spin attack of Jason Walbank (2-46) and Peter Tapper (2-36). He eventually finished with 82 not out as the Mottisfont innings, after 45 overs, ended on 213-5. For the second week running the Lymington reply was soon in trouble at 13-3. Mark Jackson (17) and Hugo Chandler (45) started to repair the damage before Jackson totally out of character gave his wicket away trying a slog and was soon followed by Dave Griffiths (5) and Charlie Hampton. Chandler continued to bat well but when caught behind the score was 86-7. Wickets continued to fall steadily and despite a late flourish by Club President Jerry Holt (9 not out) and Jimmy Lillington (17) to secure additional batting points, Lymington slumped to 120 all out with over 12 overs of the innings remaining. R Gribbell claiming 4-27 was the pick of the Mottisfont bowlers. Lymington 3rd XI now needs to focus and improve over the coming weeks in order to survive in Hampshire County Div 4 West.
