On a grey overcast day with rain in the air at the Sports Ground Lymington’s captain Simon Beetham won the toss and elected to bat. Lymington’s openers Terry Crabb (40) and Ryan Scott (0) were soon separated when the latter was bowled in the 1st over which brought in Richie Lock (1) but he was caught behind by Chris Ridley off the bowling of Simon Ridley. Calvin Dickinson (2) was bowled and with 3 wickets down for 7 runs Lymington had not backed up the skippers choice to bat. However Crabb and Ed Ellis (106) repaired the damage before the former was caught with the score at 83. This brought in Dominic Hand (45) who batted well before he was caught at 190 and then in the pursuit of quick runs Ellis was caught and so was Simon Beetham (13) and then Matt Metcalfe (6) lbw with Chris Blake (10 no) and Guy Layman (5no) and Lymington finished on 240 for 8 after 50 overs.
In reply Lymington’s opening bowlers Matt Metcalfe (10 overs 1 for 39) and Simon Beetham (6 overs 1 for 22) picked up an early wicket but Bashley’s Australian overseas player Patrick Page (109) although dropped in his early innings led the recovery along with Josh Digby (39). Guy Layman (9.1 overs 0 for 43) and spinner Richie Lock (10 overs 1 for 40) along with Ed Freeman (3 overs 0 for 18) were unable to make a breakthrough. It was the spin of Dominic Hand (6 overs 1 for 47) who picked up a wicket and with Chris Blake (4 overs 0 for 24) Bashley won by 6 wickets with 11 balls to spare.
