Lymington welcomed touring team Bromley District for a friendly T20 match. The game went ahead without any delays, though it was one of the coldest evenings for Cricket many of us could remember, thankfully the cricket warmed us up.
Bromley batted first reaching 128 for 3 in their 20 overs. Lymington captain for the night Cam Robertson skilfully managed his bowling with everyone getting a bowl.
In their 2 over spells, Thomas Sykes and Jude Tollerfield bowled tidily up front going for only 6 runs a piece, Will Jowett 1-6, Franchesca Robertson 1-10 and Charlie Hampton 1-7 were the wicket takers, Mason Barrett bowled a couple of tidy overs as well.
This looked a challenging target and the crowd were kept on their toes to the end, the innings started brightly with an outstanding 43 retired from Cam Robertson, useful contributions followed from Hugo Smith 12, Jason Walbank 12 and Harvey Jeffries 8 left Lymington needing 30 in the last 5 overs with the 9th wicket pair of Josh Royan and Franchesca Robertson at the crease, the running was fast, the batting skilful with the pair eventually guiding Lymington home with 2 balls to spare, Josh Royan ending on 26 not out
A great game played in Great Spirit by both teams; the evening included catering from “the street Chef” serving savoury food through the match, jerk chicken wrap certainly being the favourite.
