Whiteparish 78 all out
Lymington 3rd XI entertained Whiteparish on a damp and slow Woodside Park pitch. On winning the toss in their Hampshire Cricket League County 4 West encounter Lymington skipper Mark Jackson had no hesitation in inviting Whiteparish to bat. The decision soon paid dividends as both Josh Goodchild 2-25 and Paul Mcauley 2-27 bowled well to help contain Whiteparish to 5 for 65 by the drinks break. A change of bowling just prior to drinks then took further effect and saw the rapid demise of the Whiteparish innings, as Alex Treagus 4-6 and Asa Drodge 2-10 used the damp conditions perfectly to swing and seam the ball around to skittle out the opposition for 78. Only J Dovey (14) and J Green (16) reached double figures with 23 extras top scoring.
After a lovely tea provided by Pheobe Chandler play resumed and as the wicket continued to dry out Terry Crabb (48) played some sumptuous cover drives and was ably supported by Hugo Chandler (18). The opening pair took the score comfortably up to 64 before Chandler was caught behind. With victory in sight Lymington then lost 2 more wickets before passing the required total to secure a well-deserved first win of the season by 7 wickets. Thank you to umpire Chris Noble, scorer Lindsay Hoyle and Trevor and Wendy Phillips for the loan of their gazebo owing to the redevelopment of the pavilion.
