IBM Hursley 213-7
Lymington III 165-8
With gazebo erected on a warm humid day at Woodside Park Lymington 3rd XI entertained IBM Hursley 1st XI on a drying wicket. On winning the toss in their Hampshire Cricket League County 4 West encounter Lymington skipper Mark Jackson invited IBM to bat, a tactic that had proved successful two weeks earlier. Alex Treagus bowled well without much luck completing his 10 overs for 34, with Hugo Chandler 0-24 and Jimmy Lillington 2-29 removing both openers caught behind by skipper Mark Jackson bowling from the opposite end. At drinks IBM were well placed at 2-95. Promising youngster Will Jowett then entered the attack with his leg-spin frustrating the opposition to produce a very tidy spell of 0-27, before being replaced by Terry Crabb who took over to take 4-28 in his 6 overs. Peter Tapper took 1-39 from 7 overs, as the IBM Hursley innings ended at 213-7 with T Rolfe (71) top score. After a splendid tea, the break had a disastrous impact on the start of the Lymington reply being 2-0. Terry Crabb (10) soon followed back to the gazebo with the score 3-16. Josh Bowring played some fluent shots before falling for 26 and was replaced by Jack Jowett on his debut match. After a tentative start Jack, the elder brother to Will, soon showed his potential with some clean striking and good running with Mark Jackson (23). Jack went on to score his maiden 50, supported by Peter Tapper (26), before being dismissed for a well-crafted 60. Lymington eventually scored 165 for 9 against a very good IBM Hursley 1st team who remain undefeated this season.
