Lymington III 114 all out
Lymington 3rd XI entertained Burley 1st XI at the picturesque Milford-on-Sea CC ground owing to the on-going pavilion redevelopment work at Woodside Park. Lymington won the toss and batted first on a dry and pacey wicket. Early inroads were made by the Burley attack through the lively pace of D Edworthy 2-13 and J Beck 2-24, with Lymington struggling at 19-4. A partnership of 54 between Mark Jackson and Damian Jayasinghe then repaired some of the early carnage. Opener Jackson was accruing runs sensibly and Jayasinghe was playing some fluent shots before he was caught for 33 off the slow bowling of C Doick, who would go on to take 4-30. With the score at 73-5 indifferent batting and poor shot selection then saw the remainder of the Lymington batting line-up come and go, as again Lymington failed to bat out their allocated 45 overs. The final total was 114 with Jackson remaining 38 not out. In reply, Burley easily knocked off the required runs for the loss of just 2 wickets to complete a comprehensive win with J Beck and D Maher finishing 38 and 31 not out respectively inside 26 overs. Lymington CC would like to thank Chris Walford of Milford-on-Sea CC for preparing the wicket, outfield and opening up the facilities. It was a shame that Lymington were unable to make better use of the wicket.
