Lymington III v Amesbury

LYMINGTON III STILL FINDING RUNS DIFFICULT

On Saturday 9 July, Lymington 3rd XI played at home to Amesbury 1st XIin their Hants County Division 4 West match. Amesbury skipper Jayme Underwood won the toss and inserted the home team who started cautiously against some tight opening bowling by Dobson 2-11 and Atkinson 3-20; however, with wickets falling at regular intervals only Mark Gannaway (13) and veterans Peter Tapper (16) and Hugo Ambrose (14) reached double figures, as Lymington were dismissed for 66 inside 29 overs of their allotted 45 overs. With the rapid demise of the first innings the tea interval was still 45 minutes away and Amesbury were keen to get their innings started. Their openers Dando (33) and Berry (20 not out) wasted little time in pushing the score line along as they looked to bag maximum points from the fixture. Lymington did dismiss Dando, caught by the promising Jason Walbank off Damian Jayasinghe (1-10), as Amesbury reached 67-1 and a very comfortable 9 wicket victory to secure 23 out of a maximum 24 points. Meanwhile, Lymington III is firmly rooted within the relegation zone.
