Ryde 238 all out
After two successive defeats Lymington stormed back to winning ways against Ryde as Bryn Darbyshire struck a magnificent 138 from only 97 balls at the Sports Ground. Playing in his first match in nearly a year, Bryn smashed 7 sixes and 14 fours, adding an amazing 222 for the sixth wicket with SPL debutant Jack Roberts who was unfortunately run out for an equally good 99. The pair rescued Lymington’s inning which looked in trouble at 69-5, Drew Robinson 35 and propelled the score up to an imposing 326-9.
Chasing such a big score Ryde needed a flying start and moved to 50-1 after 10 overs. The introduction of Cameron Robertson swung the game back in Lymington’s favour with a great spell of 3-36 from his ten overs, he and Captain Ollie Kelly (3-63) took wickets regularly as Ryde were all out for 238.
After the match an emotional Bryn dedicated his innings to close friend Nick Benson who tragically died of a brain tumour recently and was buried on Thursday.
