Lymo U13s start with entertaining win
The Under 13s started the season at Hythe & Didben and elected to bowl first. Lymington used 8 bowlers and reduced the home team to 90 for 9 in their allotted 18 overs, top score was extras which included 27 wides! Jamie Mass was the pick of the bowling (3-7), together with Ted Ward (2-19), Morgan Floyd (2-9) who bowled with great guile and Sam Usher (1-12) being the other wickets takers.
Then the madness of cricket descended in the Lymington innings which left huge smiles on most faces! Oscar Marshall was run out in the first over without facing, an awful way to start the season. Then captain Josh Royan (32) and Will Usher (35) smashed the ball all round the ground before both retiring – one of Josh’s 3 sixes would have held its own in adult cricket. Cam Hawkins (13) came in as Lymo cruised to 89 for one wicket in only 8 overs. With just two runs to win from 10 overs, this is where it all went a bit pear-shaped. Sam Usher came in and was outstandingly caught at mid-on first ball, followed by Ted Ward next ball, caught by an amazing slip catch. The start of the next over saw Jamie Mass also out first ball. In between some outstanding hitting there had now been four golden ducks! Thankfully Louis Tollerfield and Arthur Mann got the two remaining runs to complete victory in the 10th over
An amazing end to what was thoroughly enjoyable game for players and spectators alike.
