LYMINGTON III SLUMP TO DEFEAT
On Saturday 16 July, Lymington 3rd XI travelled away to Dinton 1st XI in their Hants County Division 4 West match. Dinton skipper Lance Harwood won the toss and decided bat. They batted positively but sensibly on a slow pitch that offered more to the slower bowler than the pacemen. Dinton scored at over 5 runs an over despite a good spell of bowling by Josh Bowring 1-18. Harwood was despatching the half-volley and short ball easily and looked set for a very big individual score before being dismissed LBW for 74 in the 20th over with the score on 102. Missed opportunities then let Dinton off the hook as they proceeded to accumulate runs with Adie Hunt being the pick of the Lymington bowling attack claiming 4-31. Dinton concluded their innings after 45 overs on 201-9. In reply Lymington, through openers Mark Gannaway (23) and Jonathon Green (22), set a platform from which the home teams total looked achievable. However, after such a promising start of 50 without loss as so often has happened this season the wheels came off again. The only positive point was a useful lower order knock of 22 from the developing young wicket keeper batsman Gabriel Flanagan. Lymington were dismissed for 99 in the 34th over with R Middlecote 4-39 and man-of-the-match Harwood 3-9 doing the damage to condemn Lymington III to yet another defeat.
